would be of service there, may be taken over on a valuation.

Anything not otherwise disposed of, which would not pay for carriage, may be destroyed, but a selection might be made and cent home of any objects likely to be of historical interest,

For such as data-stampa, etc., for the Post Office Museum,

the purposes of accounts, an inventory can perhaps be drawn up of fittings and stores, with particulars of disposal and the

amounts realized, for incl:sion in the final account.

It would be convenient that all records relating to

the receipt and despatch of Mails, registered letters, parcels,

Money Orders, and so on, which are due to be preserved for a

time, in view of possible enquiries, should be retained at

Hong Kong for the usual period; and the Postmaster General will be glad if you can arrange for enquiries to be dealt with

at Hong Kong after the Agencies are closed,

You will no doubt give detailed instructions to the

Agencies as to the preparation of a final account and the

transmission to Hong Kong of unsold stamps, Postal Orders,

Money Orders, etc., as vouchers. The Postmaster General wil1

be glad to represent to the Treasury that the allowance to you

and to the two Accountants at Hong Kong should be continued

until the winding up of the agencies is complete. He desire

me to thank you for the very able manner in which the

Agencies in China have been controlled by Hong Kong on behalf

of the British Post Office and to express his regret that the

alose association which has existed between our two offices

since the Agencies were taken over seems likely soon to

terminate,
